What Is A DragonFly® Mosquito Exterminator?
The DragonFly® Mosquito Trap is a mosquito lure. This lure is designed to attack, trap and kill mosquitoes and to further disrupt the breeding cycle.

Why is the lure approach so effective?
Mosquitoes live 2-4 weeks on average and females mosquitoes will lay up to 500 eggs during this span. Mosquitoes have a limited flight capacity, thus their habitat and breeding grounds are confined to an area typically less than an acre. Attracting, trapping and killing female mosquitoes disrupts the breeding cycle and minimizes mosquito re-population.

Attracting, trapping and killing just one female mosquito at the beginning of the season can prevent the birth of up to 25,000 additional mosquitoes throughout the season.

Female biting insects require blood to nourish their eggs. They get that blood from you, your family, your pets and your friends. They track down hosts by sensing the carbon dioxide (the primary cue), moisture and heat from breath, body odors and color contrasts. DragonFly® mosquito exterminators create a combination of those cues. This tricks the insects into thinking the trap is a host. Once the pests are attracted to the exterminator, they are captured on the sticky trap or sucked into an enclosure by a powerful vacuum fan. Once trapped, they quickly dehydrate and die.

Shouldn’t I just use a spray solution to kill the mosquitoes?
Sprays are a good “immediate” solutions to kill mosquitoes on contact, however, they do not disrupt the breeding cycle. Mosquitoes begin re-populating almost immediately after some sprays are applied.

OK, I like The Idea of a Lure, Why Choose a DragonFly®?
The DragonFly® Lure is the next generation lure. First generation lures use propane and operate 24/7. The DragonFly® Lure operates using CO2 directly and incorporates "smart technology", which is a pre-programmed function that enables the DragonFly® to use CO2 more efficiently, by releasing it only when it needs it. Unlike one-size-fits-all propane traps, that work 24/7, the DragonFly® is programmed to protect people when they are outside and to hunt mosquitoes at times of day when they are most active.

Utilizing CO2 instead of propane and operating only when the unit is required is more cost effective, eliminates efficiency loss, improves overall operational efficiency and most of all improves overall catch rate.

What is required to operate the Dragonfly®?
To operate your DragonFly®, you will need a 16- 32 oz. CO2 Bottle and an octenol cartridge. This unit operated off of electricity and is required to operate this unit. This unit generates its own power by incorporating an internal catalytic converter. All you will need to operate this unit is a tank of CO2 and an octenol cartridge, however, the unit will operate without the use of CO2 or octenol.

Electronic Ignition (IP) – The gas pilot is lit automatically by the electronic ignition. When the thermostat calls for heat, the electronic ignition is engages and the pilot is lit. The pilot does not stay lit when the heater is not being used.
